Deputy Minister-designate for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation and MP for Sissala West, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, says he will ensure Ghana becomes Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hub for Africa.
His remarks underscore the growing importance of AI as a transformative tool for digital innovation, economic growth, and public service delivery in Ghana and beyond.
During his vetting at Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Friday, July 25, Mr. Sukparu declared his commitment to strengthening the country’s AI agenda by building on the foundations laid by the current national strategy.
Mr. Sukparu’s assurance aligns with government efforts to harness emerging technologies in driving inclusive development and positioning Ghana as a competitive player in Africa’s digital future.
“I’m aware that there’s a strategy for Artificial Intelligence, and I will assist my minister for us to build upon the already existing strategy,” he told the committee.
“So that we will enhance it to make it fit for purpose, so that we can make Ghana an Artificial Intelligence hub for Africa.”
The appointment was made in line with Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of the 1992 Constitution, which mandate the President to nominate ministers and their deputies in consultation with Parliament.
