The Deputy Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mohammed Adam Sukparu, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to driving artificial intelligence (AI) adoption across key sectors of Ghana’s economy.
Speaking on behalf of his Minister, Samuel Nartey George, at the opening of the ENJOY AI 2025 African Open in Accra on Friday, September 26, Mr. Sukparu welcomed participants to the continent’s flagship AI competition held under the theme “Chasing the Stars.”
He explained that this year’s contest was not only about advancing AI knowledge but also about imagination, teamwork, and equipping the next generation of African innovators to thrive in a digitally driven world.
Mr. Sukparu disclosed that the government, through the Ministry, is working closely with stakeholders to design a comprehensive National Artificial Intelligence Strategy that will serve as a roadmap for the responsible adoption of AI across priority sectors.
As part of efforts to accelerate AI usage, he further revealed that President John Dramani Mahama has directed that, beginning in 2026, all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) must integrate AI tools into their operations.
The Deputy Minister also announced that the Ministry is in the process of developing an Emerging Technologies Bill, which will establish a legal framework to guide the responsible adoption and use of frontier technologies, including AI and other related innovations.
