Accra witnessed a tragic incident on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, as a stampede occurred at the El-Wak Sports Stadium during the Ghana Armed Forces’ 2025/2026 recruitment exercise.
This was announced by GAG in a statement signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General, Public Relations, Ghana Navy.
Preliminary reports indicate that the surge of applicants breached security protocols, rushing the gates before the scheduled screening at around 6:20 a.m.
The unfortunate event resulted in the deaths of six potential recruits, while many others sustained injuries and are currently receiving emergency medical care at the 37 Military Hospital.
The Ghana Armed Forces assured the public that medical teams are working tirelessly to stabilize those affected.
The GAF extended its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a swift recovery to those injured, promising further updates as more information becomes available.
