Lawyers for the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, have issued a cease-and-desist notice warning individuals and media platforms against publishing or circulating what they describe as false and defamatory claims linking him to an alleged GHS200 million theft involving one Dominic Bonsu.
In a legal notice dated August 5, 2026, the solicitors, acting on the instructions of Mr. Gyamfi, rejected reports alleging that Mr. Bonsu was his bodyguard and had absconded with GHS200 million belonging to the Ghana Gold Board.
According to the legal team, the allegations are “entirely false, malicious, reckless and devoid of any factual or legal basis.”
The lawyers have directed all individuals, media organisations and social media users to immediately cease publishing, republishing, circulating or disseminating the claims in any form.
The notice further warns that Mr. Gyamfi reserves the right to initiate civil proceedings against any person or entity responsible for originating or republishing the alleged defamatory material.
To clarify the matter, the legal team stated that Mr. Gyamfi has never met, known or maintained any personal or professional relationship with Dominic Bonsu.
They further stressed that Mr. Bonsu has never served as Mr. Gyamfi’s bodyguard, personal security officer, employee, agent, representative or associate.
The lawyers also categorically denied claims that Dominic Bonsu absconded with GHS200 million belonging to the Ghana Gold Board, describing the allegation as “false, fabricated, malicious, and wholly without factual or legal foundation.”
The legal notice was issued by A.O.C. Legal on behalf of Mr. Gyamfi, who has urged the public to disregard the allegations while warning that anyone who continues to spread the claims may face legal action.
