The committee established by Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh to investigate the recent altercation at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge) has ruled out medical evidence of a fractured wrist or dislocated shoulder in the case of nurse Rejoice Tsotso Bortei.
The nurse, who accused social media activist Ralph Saint Williams of physically assaulting her during a heated exchange at the hospital’s Emergency Unit, had earlier claimed she suffered multiple injuries, including fractures, shoulder dislocation, chest pains, and trauma.
But presenting the committee’s report on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, Chairman Dr. Lawrence Ofori-Boadu said medical assessments did not confirm her claims.
“There was no evidence of fracture on her left wrist or dislocation of her right shoulder joint, as documented by the medical records,” he stated.
Dr. Ofori-Boadu explained that Ms. Bortei reported her injuries a day after the incident, was treated with pain medication, advised to rest, and has since been offered psychological support.
The committee also dismissed allegations by Ralph Saint Williams that patients were left unattended at the Emergency Unit, describing them as unsubstantiated.
Meanwhile, Ms. Bortei has filed a GH₵7 million civil lawsuit against Ralph Saint Williams, citing assault and defamation.
She claims the activist not only attacked her physically but later discredited her in a live video, damaging her professional reputation.
