More calls for Justin Kodua Frimpong’s resignation over NPP constituency election challenges

A group calling itself the Grassroots Alliance for Victory 2028, Western Region Branch, has called for the immediate resignation of the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, following disturbances that characterised some of the party’s constituency executive elections.

Addressing a press conference on July 14, 2026, the group accused the General Secretary of failing in his responsibilities as the party’s chief administrator and blamed him for what it described as poor planning and inadequate logistical arrangements during the elections.

The group expressed dissatisfaction with directives issued by the party’s national leadership indicating that delegates attending the elections would not receive transportation, food, drinks or other forms of support.

According to the group, the decision amounted to disrespect for grassroots members and delegates who continue to invest their time and resources in the activities of the party.

The group argued that asking delegates to attend the elections without basic welfare arrangements was unfair and failed to recognise their contribution to the growth of the party at the polling station level.

The Grassroots Alliance for Victory 2028 also linked incidents of violence, confusion and arrests recorded in some constituencies during the elections to what it described as poor planning and inadequate security arrangements.

It maintained that the General Secretary bears responsibility for ensuring peaceful, credible and well-organised internal elections and should therefore accept responsibility for the challenges that occurred.

The group further questioned the party’s claims of financial difficulties, citing previous instances where nomination fees for aspirants were reportedly paid on behalf of candidates nationwide.

According to the group, the situation raises concerns about the party’s financial priorities and the management of election logistics.

The group has therefore called on the National Council of the NPP to intervene and put measures in place to provide logistical support for delegates in the remaining elections.

It also called for an independent audit into the party’s finances and the management of resources allocated for internal electoral activities.

The Grassroots Alliance for Victory 2028 said the NPP belongs to its grassroots membership and urged the party’s leadership to take steps to restore confidence among delegates and party faithful.
