Miracles Aboagye says he is “out, unbroken” after EOCO detention, vows to lead NPP communications directorate

Former Director of Communications for Bawumia for President 2024 campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has broken his silence after his release from detention by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), insisting that he remains committed to his bid to become the next National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr. Aboagye, in a statement following his release, said his detention, which occurred four days ago shortly after he announced his intention to contest the party’s National Communications Director position, had strengthened his resolve rather than weakened it.

According to him, claims surrounding his arrest created a false narrative, but he believes the truth will eventually emerge.

“Ghanaians are not fools, and neither are the good people of the New Patriotic Party.

The facts and the truth will prevail,” he stated.

Mr. Aboagye also denied reports linking him to discussions with EOCO concerning GHS55 million, describing such claims as false.

“For the records: there was no discussion of any GHS55 million cedis with me by EOCO. None,” he said.

The NPP communicator expressed appreciation to party supporters who demonstrated solidarity during his detention, saying their actions gave him strength.

“To every party faithful who hit the streets, who raised their voices, who refused to be silent, I saw you. I heard you. From my detention, word of your protests reached me, and it kept my spirit standing tall,” he added.

Mr. Aboagye maintained that attempts to intimidate or silence him would not affect his political ambitions, stressing that he remained determined to lead the party’s communications machinery.

“If the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly,” he said.

He further pledged to help the NPP “command the narrative” ahead of future political engagements, adding that the experience had only strengthened his commitment.

“Fuel has only been added to fire,” he stated.

The former presidential staffer thanked his legal team, party leadership, and supporters for their backing, describing his political journey as a collective effort.

“This journey is no longer mine alone. It is ours. We move stronger, louder, together,” he concluded.
