Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has attributed Ghana’s ongoing economic recovery to what he described as the superior economic management approach of President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
Presenting the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament on Thursday, Dr Forson dismissed claims by the Minority and insisted that the progress recorded in the economy reflects deliberate policy measures implemented by the government.
According to him, the recovery has been anchored on three key principles: fiscal modernisation, complementary fiscal policy measures, exchange rate transformation and strengthened fiscal discipline.
He said these measures have helped stabilise the economy and restore confidence, adding that Ghana had exceeded its first-half targets for 2026.
“Ghana is not going back, Ghana is moving forward,” Dr Forson stated, emphasising the government’s commitment to sustaining the current economic trajectory.
The Finance Minister further disclosed that Ghana’s economy is now ranked as the 8th largest in Africa, highlighting it as one of the key indicators of the country’s economic progress.
He assured Parliament that the government would continue to pursue policies aimed at maintaining stability, promoting growth and improving the livelihoods of Ghanaians.
