The Eastern South Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into alleged death threats made by Alhaji Abdul Wahab, the Abuakwa North Communications Officer of the opposition NDC, against three senior NPP leaders.
According to police, the case is linked to tensions during the September 2 Akwatia by-election, when confusion broke out after posters were reportedly torn from a vehicle parked at the NDC constituency office.
In a media interview that followed, Wahab is alleged to have issued threats against Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Minority Chief Whip Frank Annor Dompreh, and NPP National Organizer Henry Nana Boakye.
Wahab was arrested in Koforidua, cautioned, and later granted bail. He is expected to report at the Regional Police Headquarters in Kyebi on Monday, September 15, 2025, to assist further investigations.
“The suspect has been cautioned and subsequently released on bail to report at the Regional Police Headquarters in Kyebi on Monday, September 15, 2025 to assist in investigations,” the police said in a statement, assuring the public of fairness and transparency.
