The Ghana Police Service has intercepted 1,054 vehicles in the Greater Accra Region as part of an ongoing nationwide road traffic enforcement exercise targeting the unauthorised use of horns, sirens, strobe lights, beacon lights, illegal vehicle modifications, and other traffic-related offences.
According to the Police, drivers found to be in breach of the Road Traffic Regulations were educated on the relevant laws, while unauthorised devices and illegal modifications fitted to their vehicles were removed and confiscated for further action.
The nationwide operation, which began on June 15, 2026, forms part of the Ghana Police Service’s efforts to promote road safety, improve discipline among motorists, and ensure compliance with the country’s Road Traffic Regulations.
Police statistics indicate that a total of 4,627 vehicles have been intercepted across the country since the exercise commenced, with the Greater Accra Region accounting for 1,054 of those vehicles.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that the enforcement exercise will continue across all regions as part of broader efforts to enhance road safety, discourage unlawful vehicle modifications, and ensure motorists comply with the law.
The Service has also urged drivers to adhere to traffic regulations and avoid installing or using unauthorised equipment that could endanger other road users or create unnecessary disturbances.
