The Ghana Health Information Management System (GHIMS), used by hospitals for patient records management, remains fully operational, while the District Health Information Management System (DHIMS), managed by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), is currently experiencing downtime.

In a clarification, the Ministry of Health said that reports suggesting hospital information management systems are down are inaccurate, as the disruption affects DHIMS and not GHIMS.

GHIMS is the digital platform used by hospitals to manage health records and is reportedly functioning normally without any challenges.

DHIMS, on the other hand, is used by districts to manage health information collected at the district level.

The system, which is managed by the Ghana Health Service, is the one currently experiencing technical difficulties.

According to the Minitry, the clarification is intended to address public concerns and prevent misinformation arising from the confusion between the two platforms.

It further emphasises the need for accurate reporting on the systems to ensure the public clearly understands which digital health information platform is affected by the downtime.
