The Produce Buying Company (PBC) Ltd and the Ghana National Cocoa Farmers Association (GNACOFA) have initiated a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening Ghana’s cocoa sector and improving farmer welfare.
The collaboration comes at a crucial time as cocoa farmers face challenges related to sustainability, financing, and global market fluctuations.
The initiative aligns with ongoing Cocoa Sector Reforms and government calls for PBC to lead as Ghana’s top Licensed Buying Company (LBC) in the domestic marketing of cocoa.
Under the partnership, GNACOFA has pledged the collective support of its members to help revive and strengthen PBC, while the company has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering input support programs, certification and extension services, timely payment of bonuses, and advocating for farmers with policymakers and other stakeholders.
GNACOFA leaders expressed appreciation for PBC’s farmer-focused approach, while emphasizing the need for urgent reforms to protect farmer livelihoods.
PBC management highlighted transparency, sustainability, resilience, and farmer welfare as central to its operations, reiterating its alignment with national policy directives.
The partnership aims to stabilize the cocoa sector against global shocks, improve livelihoods for farmers, promote sustainable practices, and enhance Ghana’s position in the international cocoa market.
Both PBC and GNACOFA have called on Ghanaian cocoa farmers to actively support the initiative to ensure the sector’s resilience and long-term growth.
