Ghanaian passport applicants will begin paying reduced fees from Thursday, November 13, 2025, following the government’s decision to cut application costs by 30 per cent.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, confirmed the adjustment in a Facebook post on Sunday, stating that the new fee for the ordinary 32-page passport has been pegged at GH₵350, down from GH₵500.
He wrote, “New Passport Application Fee of GHS350 (a 30% reduction) comes into effect this Thursday, November 13, 2025. For God and Country 🇬🇭 🙏🏾.”
The reduction fulfills an earlier announcement the minister made in Parliament on March 13, 2025, following a directive from President John Dramani Mahama to make Ghanaian passports more affordable and accessible.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry has also confirmed that Ghana has fully transitioned from the old biometric passports to new chip-embedded e-passports that comply with international security and travel standards.
The fee adjustment comes after Parliament completed amendments to the Fees and Charges Act, paving the way for the policy to take effect nationwide.
