Parliament’s Appointments Committee today, Monday, June 16, 2025, begins vetting seven nominees to the Supreme Court.
The nominees, all currently serving on the Court of Appeal, were selected by President John Dramani Mahama.
This was in line with Article 144(2) of the 1992 Constitution, which requires the President to appoint Supreme Court Justices in consultation with the Council of State and with the approval of Parliament.
The vetting process will examine the nominees’ legal qualifications, professional experience, integrity, and judicial philosophy to assess their suitability for the apex court.
Once approved, their appointments are expected to strengthen the Supreme Court’s capacity to manage a growing docket and reinforce public confidence in Ghana’s judicial system.
