The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has expressed deep sorrow following a fatal motor accident involving members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) near Obuasi Airport on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
One member of the five-person taskforce lost their life in the crash, while the remaining four sustained serious injuries and are receiving medical care.
The team was on an anti-galamsey operation aimed at tackling illegal mining in the area.
In a statement, the Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the fallen officer and wished a speedy recovery for the injured members.
The Ministry also confirmed that a full investigation into the incident has been launched.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all frontline personnel and will ensure they receive the utmost support and care,” the statement added.
