Former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has successfully undergone a robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy to treat prostate cancer.
The procedure was performed on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
His wife, Prof. Angela Ofori-Atta, confirmed the news in a statement issued on Monday, June 16.
She noted that the surgery lasted over four hours and was deemed successful by the medical team.
Prof. Ofori-Atta added that while her husband has always shown resilience, the period leading up to the surgery was emotionally taxing due to actions taken by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
She further stated that Mr. Ofori-Atta is focused on recovery and remains committed to regaining his health.
The family expressed gratitude for the support and prayers they’ve received from friends, loved ones, and religious leaders.

Earlier, on Sunday, June 9, the family announced that Mr. Ofori-Atta would return to Ghana after completing his medical treatment and recovery.
They confirmed he would make himself available to the OSP at the appropriate time.
The update follows a controversial declaration by the OSP, which labeled the former minister a fugitive and requested INTERPOL to issue a Red Notice for his arrest.
The family, however, dismissed the move as a “premeditated theatrical stunt” intended to embarrass Mr. Ofori-Atta.
According to the family, Mr. Ofori-Atta had informed the OSP of his medical condition and offered to participate in a video-recorded interview in place of a physical appearance—a proposal that was rejected.
They also accused the OSP of manipulating evidence, violating his constitutional rights, and deliberately suppressing relevant information to secure an arrest warrant without due process.
