Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC and Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has walked free from police custody after satisfying bail conditions set by an Accra Circuit Court.
The outspoken politician, who was arrested on September 8, 2025, over alleged offensive conduct and publication of false news, had spent several days in custody before his lawyers successfully secured his release.
The court granted him bail of GH₵50,000 with one surety, which came without justification.
His legal team, led by Daniel Martey Addo, welcomed the decision, describing it as a vindication of their arguments.
They emphasized that their client’s health had declined during detention, making his release crucial.
Abronye’s arrest followed public comments deemed inflammatory by authorities, including allegations against the Inspector General of Police and the ruling government.
He has since pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The case, which continues to draw public and political interest, has been adjourned to October 7, 2025, for further hearings.
