The Member of Parliament (MP) for North Dayi Constituency, Hon. Mrs. Joycelyn Quashie, marked a significant milestone in the development of her constituency with the ceremonial cutting of the sod for the construction of a new three-unit classroom block at Yordanu Basic School.
The event, held on Thursday, was attended by a host of dignitaries, including the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Ernest Adevor, who joined the MP in leading the occasion. Teachers, students, parents, and other stakeholders from the community were on hand to witness the event, their faces beaming with hope and excitement for the improvements ahead.

In her address, Hon. Mrs. Quashie expressed her gratitude to the residents of North Dayi for their continuous support and trust in her leadership. “This classroom block is not just a building; it is a promise of a better future for our children. A future where they can learn in a conducive, comfortable environment, and where their potential will be nurtured to its fullest,” she remarked.
The MP took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of education and urged all stakeholders—teachers, parents, and students alike—to continue working together for the academic growth of the children in the district. She further called on the contractor for the project to ensure that the work is completed on time and to the highest standards of quality.

“We must ensure that this school provides the students with the best possible environment to learn. I want to urge the contractor to deliver the project with the utmost care and efficiency. Our children deserve nothing less,” she said.
The excitement in the air was palpable as parents and teachers shared their joy and appreciation for the project, which will help alleviate overcrowding and improve the overall learning conditions at Yordanu Basic School.

Hon. Ernest Adevor, the District Chief Executive, also expressed his strong commitment to supporting the MP in achieving the district’s development goals. He praised the MP for her leadership and the positive impact her initiatives are having on the district. “This is a clear testament to Hon. Mrs. Quashie’s dedication to her people. We stand with her and are committed to working together to bring about even more development in North Dayi,” he said.
Both leaders reiterated their commitment to collaboration for the greater good of the people in the constituency. The event was a symbolic step toward a brighter future for the students of Yordanu Basic School and an affirmation of the ongoing efforts to uplift North Dayi through infrastructure and education.
The new classroom block is expected to ease congestion in the existing classrooms, providing more space for students to focus on their studies and creating a safer, more conducive learning environment. This development is a part of the MP’s broader vision to enhance the quality of education across North Dayi and ensure that the next generation is equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
