The National Identification Authority (NIA) has officially commenced the nationwide issuance of Ghana Cards to children aged between 6 and 14 years, starting today, Monday, October 6, 2025.

According to the Authority, the distribution exercise will begin in 56 districts across the country, with additional districts expected to follow in the coming days. The cards will be issued at the same schools where the children were initially registered.

The NIA emphasized that each child must be physically present to collect their card and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Parents are also required to present the Form A or receipt that was issued on the day of registration.

With the backlog of unprinted Ghana Cards now fully cleared, the Authority has assured the public of a smooth and efficient process throughout the exercise.

The NIA further noted that details regarding the resumption of new registrations for children within the 6–14 age bracket will be communicated soon.

This initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure that every Ghanaian, including children, is captured in the national identification system to enhance data management and service delivery.
