The National Democratic Congress (NDC) took a significant step towards strengthening its 2024 election campaign by launching a Young Women Committee at a well-attended event held in Madina Market yesterday.
The event saw the presence of the 2024 running mate, Professor Naana Opoku Agyemang, alongside the leadership of the NDC Women’s Wing and other distinguished dignitaries.
Dr. Louisa Hanneh Bisiw, the National Women’s Organizer, delivering her speech, highlighted the pivotal roles young women can play in the NDC’s quest to recapture power on December 7th.
“We, the women, are in the majority, and bad governance affects us the most. This special Young Women Committee is mandated to reach out to women, especially younger women, to explain the good policies and plans that will benefit every woman across the country,”
Dr. Bisiw did not mince words in criticizing the current government’s handling of women’s issues. “This government has been very insensitive to the plight of women. It’s time to teach them a lesson by voting them out. Young ladies cannot even afford sanitary pads due to inflation and unnecessary taxation,” she said .
The Young Women Committee has been tasked to coordinate the campaigns of various splinter groups within the NDC to ensure a unified and effective effort towards victory in the upcoming election.
“This group will strategically absorb splinter groups and welcome all hardworking young women who want to serve the NDC party as we head into the 2024 election,” Dr. Bisiw added.
