The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has outlined strict protocols for its forthcoming regional elections, banning proxy voting and placing the Ghana Police Service in charge of security at all election centres.
In a statement dated Thursday, November 5, 2026, signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC said the guidelines were intended to ensure a “credible, transparent, orderly, and peaceful process.”
On voting, the party made it clear that delegates must be physically present to exercise their franchise, ruling out proxy arrangements.
“There shall be no proxy voting. Every eligible delegate must be physically present to cast his or her vote,” the statement said.
The NDC also outlined three acceptable identification documents for delegates: a valid NDC Party Identification Card, an official accreditation document or an embossed photograph captured in the approved voters’ register.
Voting will commence at 7:00 a.m. and close at 4:00 p.m. However, the party clarified that delegates already in the queue at the closing time would be allowed to vote.
On security, the party assigned the Ghana Police Service sole responsibility for maintaining security at all election centres.
“The Ghana Police Service shall have sole responsibility for security at all election centres,” it stated.
The NDC further directed that “Personal security details accompanying government officials or any other individuals shall not be permitted within designated voting areas.”
The party urged aspirants, delegates, supporters and election officials to comply fully with the protocols and conduct themselves with “discipline, restraint and responsibility.”
It added that all stakeholders must work together to ensure “peaceful, credible and transparent elections” that uphold the democratic values and unity of the party.
