The Ministry of Health (Ghana) has directed the immediate suspension of Fredrick Anaba, Principal of the College of Nursing, Nkanchina, as authorities begin an administrative inquiry into alleged irregularities at the institution.
The decision follows concerns raised by the Ministry regarding the college’s 2025/2026 admission process, particularly claims that the school admitted more students than its approved quota and introduced programmes without the necessary authorization.
MoH in a statement explained that a query was issued to the Principal on February 19, 2026 seeking clarification on the matter. After reviewing the response submitted, the Ministry concluded that the circumstances warranted a full investigation.
As part of the directive, Mr. Anaba has been instructed to step aside from his duties and transfer responsibility for the management of the college to the Acting Vice Principal while the probe is ongoing.
The Ministry stressed that all health training institutions must strictly comply with approved admission limits and accredited programmes to maintain standards in the training of health professionals.
Authorities say further information will be communicated to the public once the investigation is concluded.
