The Director of Elections and Information Technology of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mahdi Gibril, has reminded branch executives who intend to contest constituency-level positions to resign from their current positions.
Mr Gibril, in a statement shared on his Facebook page, said any branch executive seeking to contest a constituency position must formally resign upon filing their nomination.
He stated that the resignation must be submitted in writing to the appropriate party authorities.
“Branch Executive who wishes to contest any Constituency position will have to resign from his/her branch position in writing upon filing,” Mr Gibril stated.
According to him, this directive is expected to guide branch executives who intend to participate in the party’s upcoming constituency-level elections and ensure compliance with the NDC’s internal electoral arrangements.
The clarification comes as members of the governing party prepare for the various constituency-level contests.
