President John Dramani Mahama will embark on a one-day working visit to the Western Region on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, to officially begin the dualization of the Sekondi–Takoradi to Cape Coast highway — a flagship project under his administration’s BIG PUSH agenda.
The announcement was made in a statement by the Western Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Richard Kirk-Mensah, on Monday, October 20.
According to the statement, the visit underscores the Mahama government’s commitment to infrastructure expansion and regional development, particularly in Ghana’s oil-rich corridor.
“The President is expected to cut the sod for the Sekondi-Takoradi to Cape Coast highway dualization project under the BIG PUSH Program. This initiative is in fulfillment of a major campaign promise to the good people of the Region,” the release noted.
As part of his visit, President Mahama will also inspect ongoing works at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and other health facilities currently under construction in the region.
The Western Region, known for its contribution to Ghana’s oil and gas sector, has been earmarked for several infrastructure projects under the government’s renewed focus on regional development and industrial growth.
