President John Dramani Mahama has highlighted the historic bonds between Ghana and Zambia, emphasizing the shared Pan-African vision of the two nations’ founding leaders.
Speaking to the Zambian National Assembly on Thursday, 5 February 2026, Mahama said, “This visit reaffirms the enduring bonds of friendship and solidarity between Ghana and Zambia—bonds forged during the historic struggle for Africa’s political emancipation under the visionary leadership of our founding fathers, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and Dr Kenneth David Kaunda.”

The President stressed that the current generation must turn this historic solidarity into concrete economic gains for Africans.
“Our forebears won us independence and nationhood. Now we must win the fight for economic transformation and prosperity for our people,” he said, noting Africa’s ongoing challenges with unemployment, fragile health systems, and dependency on external actors for security and development.

Mahama also reiterated the vision of the Accra Reset Initiative, calling for unity, self-reliance, and the strategic use of Africa’s resources to drive sustainable growth and industrialisation across the continent.
