President John Dramani Mahama has officially cut the sod for the dualization of the Takoradi–Cape Coast highway, describing the project as a key pillar of his government’s 24-Hour Economy and Reset Agenda.
Speaking at the ceremony in Sahama, Western Region, President Mahama noted that the current single-lane road has long exceeded its design capacity, resulting in frequent accidents and limiting economic activity along the route.
The new road will feature modern infrastructure including interchanges, bridges, footbridges, rest stops, and service roads to enhance traffic flow and ensure safer travel for motorists and commuters.
President Mahama emphasized that the project is central to connecting communities, facilitating commerce, and supporting regional economic integration, reinforcing the government’s commitment to sustainable development across the Western Region.
