Electrical officers have disconnected power at the National Public Health and Reference Laboratory, located at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, following a fire outbreak that happened on the night of Tuesday, June 17.
The blaze reportedly started around 11:00 p.m. on June 17. According to the Ghana National Fire Service, firefighters from four different stations were swiftly dispatched to the scene, successfully containing the fire and preventing it from spreading to other parts of the facility.

Citi News understands the fire severely affected several critical areas of the laboratory, including the electrical room, storage units, laboratories, and a library.
As of now, the cause of the fire remains unknown. The Fire Service has commenced investigations to determine what triggered the incident.
