Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at Ghana’s National Security, has formally petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to investigate former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame for alleged misconduct and attempted fabrication of evidence in the ongoing ambulance trial involving Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
In his petition, Jakpa claims that Dame tried to coerce him into giving false testimony against Dr. Forson and procuring a fake medical excuse to delay proceedings. Jakpa refused, describing the requests as “criminal, dishonest, and unethical,” and included a recording of a phone call as evidence.
The ambulance case, which began in 2022, concerns the procurement of 200 ambulances during Dr. Forson’s tenure as Deputy Finance Minister.
Prosecutors allege financial mismanagement, while Dr. Forson maintains that all actions were lawful and approved by the Finance Ministry.
Jakpa emphasized that failing to investigate such allegations against a former Attorney-General could undermine public trust in Ghana’s justice system and threaten national stability.
