The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohunu, will today April 10,2025 lead a team to attain first- hand information and assess the situation on the ground at Bawku.
This follows violent clashes involving some youth of the town and the Police which led to the death of one person, and several others sustaining gunshot injuries. They are however, receiving medical treatment.
In a Statement signed by the director of Public Affairs, ASP Grace Ansah-Akrofi said, while at Bawku, the IGP and his team will also commisserate with the deceased family, visit the injured persons on admission and reach out to officers who lost their properties as a result of the violence.
She added that “Security has since been intensified at Bawku and surrounding communities as joint Police and Military patrols continue”.
She assured the public that, the Police Service will continue to work with the Ghana Armed Forces, chiefs, opinion leaders and all other stakeholders to ensure security, law and order at Bawku.
