overnment has renewed a curfew in Nalerigu Township and its surrounding areas in the North East Region, requiring residents to remain indoors from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The directive, effective Monday, January 5, 2026, was announced by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, following advice from the National Security Council.
In the statement, the government urged chiefs, elders, youth, and community members to exercise restraint and to channel their energies through non-violent means to maintain peace in the area.
Authorities also imposed a total ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons in the township and surrounding areas, warning that anyone found in possession of such items will be arrested and prosecuted.
