Ghana has secured a ¥402 million grant from the Government of Japan to support the training of Ghanaian professionals under the Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) Programme.
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson announced the agreement in a Facebook post on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, after officially signing the deal on behalf of the Government of Ghana.
The JDS Programme offers Ghanaian public sector officials the opportunity to pursue postgraduate degrees in top Japanese universities.
The initiative is designed to build the country’s capacity in governance, public administration, and strategic policy-making.
In his remarks, Dr. Forson expressed appreciation to Japan for its continued partnership and investment in Ghana’s human capital development.
He also took the opportunity to brief Japanese officials on Ghana’s recent economic recovery, citing falling inflation, declining debt levels, and a rebound in investor confidence.
He noted that these gains are expected to contribute to an improvement in Ghana’s sovereign credit rating.
