Greater Accra Region recorded the highest number of people living with HIV in Ghana in year 2025, followed by the Ashanti and Eastern regions, according to the latest National HIV Estimates released by the Ghana AIDS Commission.
The report estimates that 337,435 people are living with HIV across the country this year, with Greater Accra accounting for the largest share at 77,512 cases.
The Ashanti Region ranked second with 68,354 people living with HIV, while the Eastern Region followed with 42,704 cases.
The Commission noted that several regions recorded comparatively lower numbers, with Western North, Northern, Ahafo, Upper East, Upper West, Oti, Savannah, and North East each reporting fewer than 10,000 people living with HIV.
According to the Ghana AIDS Commission, the figures highlight the need for stronger interventions in regions with high HIV prevalence, including increased access to prevention services, testing, early diagnosis, and treatment.
The Commission stressed that sustained public awareness and improved access to healthcare services remain critical to reducing new infections and supporting people living with HIV across the country.
