Intercity STC Coaches Limited has dismissed reports that passengers died in the recent road accident involving one of its buses travelling from Accra to Kumasi, insisting that all passengers and crew members survived the crash.
The company issued the clarification after reports circulated, including an interview attributed to the bus driver, claiming that only 10 passengers survived the accident.
“We wish to state categorically that this information is false and does not reflect the actual situation,” STC said in a statement.
According to the company, everyone on board received medical attention following the crash and has since been discharged from hospital.
The accident occurred on Monday, August 3, 2026, at the Birimso Bridge on the N6 Highway, where an STC passenger bus was involved in a collision with a loaded articulated truck and a sedan.
The crash completely blocked the Accra–Kumasi Highway, disrupting traffic in both directions and forcing police to introduce temporary diversions.
The Eastern South Regional Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) redirected vehicles travelling towards Accra through Kibi at Nsutam, while motorists heading to Kumasi were diverted through Apedwa as emergency responders worked to clear the scene.
Police urged motorists to cooperate with officers managing traffic and comply with the temporary arrangements.
“We entreat motorists and other road users to cooperate with the officers on the ground as they work to restore normal traffic flow,” the police said.
STC said it is working with the relevant authorities to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash and will provide verified updates as investigations continue.
Reassuring passengers and the travelling public, the company said “the safety and well-being of our passengers and staff remain our highest priority,” adding that it remains committed to maintaining “the highest possible standards of safety, reliability and customer care across all our operations.”
