GFZA CEO visits two Free Zone Enterprises to deepen industry engagement

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, paid a familiarization visit to two Free Zone Enterprises as part of her ongoing engagement efforts with companies operating within the Free Zones enclave.

The visit, on Wednesday, May 14 forms part of the Authority’s broader initiative to strengthen ties with licensed enterprises and also understand their operations and challenges.

The visit also saw Dr. Awusi and her team at the Eco-Trade Limited, a commercial company engaged in the distribution of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, is using Ghana as a transit hub to export its products to other African countries.

During the visit, Dr. Awusi interacted with the company’s Managing Director, Mr. Wissam Raad, who provided insights into the company’s export strategy and regional footprint.

The delegation also visited Wahu Mobility Limited, an innovative electric bicycle assembly company.

The CEO and her team were received by Chief Financial Officer Ms. Abena Baidoo and members of the management team.

In a presentation, Ms. Baidoo explained that Wahu Mobility is committed to providing comprehensive connectivity solutions while also empowering a new generation of mobility entrepreneurs.

Dr. Awusi commended both enterprises for their contributions to Ghana’s export-driven industrialization agenda.

She expressed particular admiration for Wahu Mobility, highlighting its status as a women-led business and its forward-thinking model in promoting clean and sustainable transportation.

She reaffirmed GFZA’s commitment to supporting Free Zone Enterprises in scaling up their operations and urged them to strictly comply with the regulations governing Free Zones operations in the country.

Accompanying the CEO were Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu, Deputy CEO (Operations); Mrs. Patience Agbleze Acorlor, Director of Corporate Affairs & Public Relations; Hajia Hanatu Abubakar-Bimi, Director of Administration; Mr. Michael Larbi, Head of Compliance; and other key officials of the Authority.

The visit underscores GFZA’s commitment to fostering a responsive and business-friendly environment that empowers Free Zone Enterprises to thrive and contribute meaningfully to national development
