The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has continued her nationwide monitoring of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) with a working visit to schools in the Weija Gbawe Municipality.

On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Dr. Lartey visited the Weija Gbawe Cluster of Schools, where she interacted with pupils, teachers, and caterers while observing the quality of meals being served.

The exercise, she said, is aimed at ensuring the programme delivers nutritious and satisfactory meals that support children’s health and academic development.

Speaking to the media, the Minister reaffirmed President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to expanding the GSFP to cover more schools nationwide.

She praised caterers for their dedication in feeding pupils despite challenges with the current GHS 2.00 per child daily grant, describing their effort as both “innovative and committed.”

Dr. Lartey assured caterers of prompt payments once verified data on cooking days is submitted, stressing government’s resolve to keep the programme sustainable.

The Minister also partnered with the Municipal Chief Executive, Felix Odamptey Lamptey, to present biscuits and drinks to pupils to encourage them and complement their meals.

She was accompanied by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Dr. Afisah Zakariah; the National GSFP Coordinator, Hajia Fati Forgor; and the Greater Accra Regional Coordinator, Madam Jessica Braimah.
