A fierce blaze has gutted a 9-bedroom house in Nkawkaw Zaragoza, a community in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region, reducing much of the property to ashes.
The fire, which broke out recently, destroyed nine rooms and countless personal belongings before it was brought under control.
Thanks to the swift response of the Ghana National Fire Service, six rooms were salvaged from the raging flames. However, the response was not without challenges.
DO II Samuel Mantey, the Municipal Fire Commander, reported that the fire truck became stuck in a muddy patch en route to the scene, delaying the team’s arrival and complicating containment efforts.
Initial suspicions pointed to possible arson, but further investigations confirmed that the blaze was accidentally triggered by a charcoal-related incident.
Commander Mantey is urging residents to be extra cautious with fire-related activities, especially as the dry season heightens the risk of fire outbreaks.
