Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has announced that 32 substantive national awards will be presented at this year’s 42nd National Farmers’ Day celebration to recognise outstanding farmers across the country.
He said the awards form part of efforts to honour farmers whose dedication and hard work continue to ensure national food security and contribute significantly to Ghana’s economic growth.

According to him, the contribution of farmers remains central to the country’s survival and development, noting that their efforts often go unrecognised despite their critical role in transforming agriculture into sustenance and prosperity.
Mr. Opoku described farmers as the vital link between the soil and Ghana’s future, stressing that their sacrifices form the foundation of national progress.
He emphasised that this year’s celebration will highlight the importance of agriculture in national development and reinforce government’s commitment to supporting the sector.
The Minister also acknowledged the often-overlooked sacrifices of farmers, describing their work as essential to sustaining livelihoods and strengthening the economy.
Drawing inspiration from a historical quote attributed to Winston Churchill, he noted that societies owe a profound debt to those who ensure food production and agricultural stability.
