The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will hold the final phase of mediation talks on the long-standing Bawku chieftaincy conflict on November 30 and December 1, 2025, the Manhyia Palace has announced.
In a statement dated Monday, November 10, the Palace described the two-day session as a key step toward achieving lasting peace between the Kusasi and Mamprusi factions.
“His Majesty praises both sides for their positive approach to the mediation so far and appeals to all concerned to avoid any actions likely to affect the progress towards a lasting solution to the Bawku conflict,” the statement said.
The Asantehene’s mediation efforts began in April 2025, with initial meetings between the factions, followed by resumed discussions in May that brought relative calm to the area.
Recent months, however, have seen renewed violence, curfews, and disruption to local livelihoods, underscoring the urgency of the final talks.
The December session is expected to include key faction representatives, government officials, and security agencies, as the Palace expressed optimism that a consensus will be reached to restore lasting stability in Bawku.
