The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Mr. Eric Opoku, has inspected ongoing works on the Afram Plains Irrigation project in the Eastern Region, which is now about 85 per cent complete.
The project, once finished, is expected to supply irrigation water to approximately 850 acres of farmland in the Afram Plains area, significantly boosting agricultural production in the region.
During the inspection, the Minister expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and reiterated government’s commitment to expanding irrigation infrastructure as part of efforts to promote year-round farming and improve food security.
Officials say the project is expected to support farmers by reducing dependence on rainfall, increasing crop yields, and creating more stable farming conditions throughout the year.
