The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) Appeal Board has ruled that Senegal forfeited the final match of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, awarding a 3–0 victory to Morocco.
The decision follows an appeal by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) challenging an earlier ruling by the CAF Disciplinary Board.
The Appeal Board set aside that decision and upheld Morocco’s protest, finding that the conduct of the Senegal national team breached Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON regulations. As a result, Senegal was declared to have forfeited the match.
CAF stated that the actions of the Senegal team constituted an infringement of the competition’s rules, warranting the forfeiture under the applicable regulations. All other requests relating to the appeal were dismissed.
In a related ruling, the Appeal Board partially upheld an appeal concerning Morocco midfielder Ismaël Saibari, confirming he committed misconduct in violation of CAF’s disciplinary code.
His sanction was reduced to a two-match suspension, with one match suspended, while a previously imposed fine of $100,000 was отмен.
The board also addressed other incidents surrounding the match. Morocco’s football federation was held responsible for the conduct of ball boys, with the fine reduced to $50,000.
A separate $100,000 fine for interference around the VAR review area was upheld, while a sanction relating to the use of lasers was reduced to $10,000.
The rulings bring closure to a series of disciplinary and regulatory disputes stemming from the AFCON 2025 final.
