The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two women in connection with the alleged assault of a 12-year-old girl at the La Roman JHS area in Accra.
In a statement dated Sunday, January 4, the Police said the incident occurred on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, and was reported by the victim’s mother, who visited the police station with her daughter showing “visible marks of assault.”
According to the Police, preliminary investigations indicate that the incident followed an earlier altercation between the victim and a seven-year-old boy related to the suspects. The Police said the suspects allegedly went to the victim’s home, took her to their residence, and assaulted her.
The two suspects, identified as Precious Giftan Mesopeh, 22, and Princess Giftan Mesopeh, 25, were arrested on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, and have been charged with assault. They are currently in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court on Monday, January 5, 2026.
A third suspect, identified as Priscilla Novishie Wornyo, 49, who is the mother of the two arrested women, is said to be at large. Police believe she has travelled to the Volta Region, and efforts are underway to locate and arrest her to assist with investigations.
The Police Command has cautioned the public against taking the law into their own hands, stressing that “violence should not be used in resolving disputes, especially those involving children.”
The Command urged parents and guardians to seek lawful means of addressing grievances and to “respect the law and protect the rights and welfare of children at all times.”
