The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced the arrest of five suspected robbers in two separate operations in Kumasi, including two linked to the robbery and murder of a young woman in Asokore Mampong.

According to the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto, two suspects, 20-year-old Farouk Iddris and 19-year-old Salim Mohammed, were apprehended in connection with the robbery and murder of 28-year-old Silver Ngozi on December 6, 2025.

The incident reportedly occurred around 5:00 pm at Asokore Mampong, during which the deceased was allegedly stabbed with a zigzag-edged knife by Salim Mohammed.

“The suspects have admitted to committing the robbery, and the knife used in the attack has been retained as evidence,” DCOP Akoto said. Police also recovered the victim’s iPhone 11 Pro from the suspects’ hideout during investigations. Additional weapons, including machetes and knives, were seized from Farouk Iddris’s room.

In a related operation, three more suspects—22-year-old Abdul Fatawu (alias “UN”), 24-year-old Philip Nyarko (alias “Kawawa”), and 21-year-old Samak Hadi (alias “Toronto”)—were arrested for a series of street robberies across Asokore Mampong, KNUST, Kanyase, Bosore, Duase, Antoa, Mayanka, Ayeduase, and surrounding areas.

Police recovered a total of 59 iPhones, six Android phones, four tablets, and five laptops from their hideouts. All three suspects have confessed to the offences in their caution statements and are currently assisting with ongoing investigations.

DCOP Akoto appealed to members of the public who may have been victims of these criminal activities to come forward and support the police with information. He added that all suspects will be arraigned in court in due course to face legal proceedings.

“The Ghana Police Service remains committed to maintaining peace, law, and order in the Ashanti Region. We encourage the public to continue providing timely and credible information to help combat crime,” the statement added.
