The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has cancelled the entire results of 653 candidates who were caught with mobile phones during the 2025 WASSCE for School Candidates. The decision follows investigations into examination irregularities conducted by the Ghana Examinations Committee.
In a statement accompanying the release of the 2025 WASSCE results, the Committee confirmed at its 40th meeting on November 17, 2025.
“Cancellation of Entire Results of 653 candidates for possession of mobile phones in the examination halls.”
WAEC further revealed that 35 individuals, including 19 teachers, were found to have compromised the integrity of the exams. Nineteen have already been prosecuted and convicted, while the remaining 16 are awaiting legal proceedings.
The incident has sparked renewed concerns about the supervision and integrity of Ghana’s education system, with stakeholders calling for stronger oversight and urgent reforms to prevent malpractice.
WAEC has also urged students and schools to strictly follow examination rules, reminding candidates that results are secure and can be verified through its official verification system.
