The Ministry of Education is set to deliver 3,282 desks to Labone Senior High School in Accra today, easing the classroom furniture shortage reported for newly enrolled Form One students.
The school had previously been using dining hall benches and floor seating as makeshift furniture, prompting public concern.
The Ministry confirmed the desks were approved and allocated by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and will be fully in place by the end of Monday, November 24, 2025.
A statement from the Ministry emphasized that this delivery is part of a larger initiative to provide 200,000 mono desks for 100 double-track senior high schools transitioning to a single-track system.
“The government through the Ministry of Education wishes to reaffirm its unwavering dedication to ensuring that every Ghanaian student learns in a safe, supportive, and conducive environment,” the Ministry said, reaffirming its commitment to closing infrastructure gaps in Ghanaian schools.
The Ministry also highlighted ongoing collaboration with the Ghana Education Service and other partners to ensure schools nationwide have the resources needed for effective teaching and learning.
