Three Nigerians have been arrested by the Ashanti Regional Police Command for their alleged involvement in a series of robberies targeting bank customers in Kumasi and its environs.
The suspects have been identified as Aboy Promise, 30, Favour Uwalaka, 45, and Kingsley, alias KC, 35.
Their arrests followed an intelligence-led operation by an Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Special Team comprising personnel from the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters and the Accra Regional Police Intelligence Directorate.
The operation was carried out at about 11:30 p.m. on October 31, 2026, leading to the arrest of Aboy Promise and Favour Uwalaka at a hotel in Moshie Zongo.

A search of their rooms resulted in the recovery of GH¢1,600, assorted mobile phones, a Royal motorbike and a master key allegedly used to gain unauthorised access to victims’ vehicles.
During interrogation, the two suspects reportedly admitted their involvement in the robberies and mentioned two alleged accomplices, Chinedu, alias Alhaji, and Kingsley, alias KC.
The police subsequently arrested Kingsley at another hotel in Dechemso, a suburb of Kumasi, after the suspects led the team to the location.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the group monitored banking premises and targeted customers who withdrew large sums of money.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the syndicate monitored banking premises, identified customers who withdrew substantial sums of money and trailed them before attacking and robbing them,” the police statement said.
The suspects were also allegedly involved in breaking into unattended vehicles belonging to bank customers.
“They also broke into unattended vehicles belonging to bank customers using a master key to steal cash kept inside,” the statement added.

The Command said Chinedu, alias Alhaji, remained at large and appealed to the public to provide credible information that could lead to his arrest.
“The remaining accomplice, Chinedu, alias Alhaji, is currently on the run,” the police stated.
The statement added, “Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the Police through emergency numbers 191, 112 or the toll-free MTN and Telecel line 18555.”
The police said the three arrested suspects had been handed over to the Ashanti Regional Police Command and were assisting with investigations.
The Command also cautioned bank customers to remain vigilant around banking premises and avoid leaving cash or other valuables unattended in vehicles.
