The Acting Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Kudzo Tameklo (Esq), has embarked on a strategic stakeholder engagement and facility tour in the Western Region as part of efforts to strengthen regulatory oversight and curb illegal activities within the petroleum downstream sector.
Mr. Tameklo, who was accompanied by senior management and staff of the NPA, began his tour with a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Esikado, Nana Kobina Nketsia V, where he reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to ethical fuel distribution, community collaboration, and transparent governance.
The team subsequently visited key petroleum installations, including the Ghana Gas Processing Plant, Quantum Terminal’s Anokyi Facility, and several other fuel storage and distribution facilities in the Takoradi enclave.
The visits aimed to assess operational standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and deepen stakeholder relationships.
As part of his outreach, Lawyer Tameklo held an engagement session with a section of Fuel Tanker Drivers in the region.
He listened to their concerns and assured them of his administration’s dedication to addressing their operational and welfare challenges.
In a crucial meeting with the Western Regional Security Council (REGSEC), Mr. Tameklo discussed collaborative strategies to combat illicit fuel smuggling and the unauthorized supply of fuel to illegal mining (galamsey) operations.
Both NPA and REGSEC agreed to intensify joint efforts in enforcing regulations and protecting the integrity of Ghana’s petroleum sector.
The NPA Chief Executive is expected to continue his stakeholder engagement drive in the Central Region as part of a nationwide effort to strengthen the Authority’s monitoring, enforcement, and support mechanisms.
