The National Deputy Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dzifa Tegah, has officially declared her intention to contest for the position of Deputy General Secretary of the party.

Madam Tegah made the declaration at a press conference at the NDC’s Rawlings House on Monday, October 26, where she outlined her commitment to strengthening the party’s administration, improving communication and empowering grassroots members ahead of the 2028 general elections.

She said her decision to contest was motivated by the need to build a more effective party structure that recognises the contributions of members at all levels.

“I, Dzifa Tegah, currently serving in the position of National Deputy Women’s Organizer, hereby declare my intention to run for the office of the National Deputy General Secretary of the NDC,” she announced.

Drawing on her experience as National Deputy Women’s Organiser and a former constituency communications officer, Tegah said she had gained first-hand knowledge of the party’s organisational strengths and areas requiring improvement.

She identified administration, communication, mobilisation and grassroots inclusion as key areas that needed attention to strengthen the party’s internal operations.

“The NEC is strongest when its administrative leadership is solid,” she said, emphasising the importance of the Deputy General Secretary’s office in coordinating the party’s structures and linking the national secretariat to regional, constituency and branch executives.

Madam Tegah argued that electoral victories were built long before election day through effective planning, strong organisational structures and sustained grassroots engagement.

“Elections, comrades, are not won on the day that the votes are counted. They are never won when the counting is going on. It is won by the careful consideration and operational structures and effective management, months and years before,” she stated.

She pledged to bring the party’s secretariat closer to members, ensure their concerns received attention and improve the maintenance of party records.

“I do not promise miracles because in truth, I cannot perform them. But I promise you hard work, smart work,” she assured party members.

The NDC Deputy Women’s Organiser also pledged to champion inclusion, particularly by creating opportunities for young men and women to assume leadership positions within the party.

She said her broader objective was to help build a stronger and better-organised NDC capable of securing victory in the 2028 general elections and beyond.

Addressing delegates expected to participate in the party’s internal electoral process, Tegah urged them to assess her record and plans as they consider their choice.

“I do not come to you with noise. I come to you with a record and a plan. Examine both of them for me. I ask for your consideration, your counsel, and in due season, your vote,” she said.

She also called for unity among aspirants, describing the contest as a race among comrades rather than a conflict between enemies.

“When it is over, we shall stand under one umbrella. Because the real battle is not in this hall. It is for the future of our party and Ghana at large,” she added.
