Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, popularly known as Abeiku Santana, has appealed to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts to intervene in what he describes as persistent difficulties in securing timely access to the Authority’s Chief Executive Officer, Maame Efua Houadjeto.
In a letter dated October 22, 2026, and addressed to the sector minister, Aggrey said the situation had affected his ability to obtain timely guidance, approvals and decisions on urgent operational matters under his portfolio.
Aggrey, who oversees Marketing and Special Duties, including domestic tourism and special events, explained that he had repeatedly attempted to arrange meetings through the CEO’s secretary or personal assistant but was often informed that she was unavailable.
While acknowledging the demands on the CEO’s schedule, he said the difficulty sometimes caused delays in operational activities, stakeholder engagements and the implementation of key assignments.
He emphasised that his appeal was not intended as a personal complaint but as an effort to address what he considers a communication gap affecting effective management and institutional efficiency.
“I therefore respectfully seek your intervention, with the knowledge of the Board Chairperson, to help establish a more effective communication and consultation arrangement between the CEO and my office, especially on urgent official matters,” he stated.
Aggrey reaffirmed his commitment to working professionally with the CEO and the Authority’s management team to advance the ministry’s objectives and improve the performance of the GTA.
Copies of the letter were sent to the Ministry’s Chief Director, the GTA Board Chairperson and the Authority’s Chief Executive Officer.
The appeal centres on establishing a more effective communication and consultation process between the two senior officials to ensure that urgent administrative and operational matters receive timely attention.
