Police have arrested some delegates during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency elections in Bimbilla after they allegedly photographed their ballot papers.
The arrests reportedly caused unrest at the voting centre, with security personnel stepping in to stop delegates from taking pictures of their votes.
The incident unfolded as party members cast their ballots to elect new constituency executives. The development has drawn attention to the need for calm and order as the internal elections proceed.
In Bimbilla, 60 aspirants are vying for 17 executive positions, while 1,764 delegates are expected to take part in the exercise.
The constituency election is part of a nationwide NDC electoral process scheduled for October 24 and 25, 2026. The party is conducting elections across its 276 constituencies to select new local executives.
