National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare Addo, popularly known as Pablo, has paid tribute to party members and activists whose contributions, he says, have been instrumental to his leadership journey.

Speaking at the National Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) Conference, Mr. Opare Addo expressed gratitude to comrades who supported him throughout his tenure, acknowledging that the milestones achieved during his time in office were the result of collective effort.

“So today before I say anything else, I want to say well done. I did not beer this journey alone. And I will never claim I did,” he said.

Mr. Opare Addo, who assumed office as National Youth Organiser in 2018, said reflecting on his tenure brought back memories of the sacrifices, challenges, disappointments and victories that shaped his leadership experience.

He said many of the people who contributed to the party’s progress might never receive public recognition, despite their sacrifices and commitment.

“Every victory we celebrate today has a fingerprint countless comrades whose names we may never or may never appear in the newspapers, whose pictures may never be taken at our biggest events and activities, but who sacrificed, perennially written into the history of this party,” he said.

The outgoing youth organiser described his appearance at the conference as particularly significant, noting that it was his final TEIN gathering in the role.

“This is not just another gathering of leaders, activists and comrades. This is my last TEIN conference as your National Youth Organizer,” he said.

He reflected on the relationships and experiences that had defined his tenure, including the difficult conversations, sleepless nights and moments when party members had to maintain faith in a better future.

Mr. Opare Addo also recalled the early days of his leadership and the development of the NDC’s Green Army, which he said emerged from discussions about creating a distinct identity for the party’s youth and women’s wings.

He recounted a meeting with a colleague who was then a regional secretary, during which he was encouraged to consider how the party could change its approach to mobilisation and organisation.

The National TEIN Conference brings together NDC student members from tertiary institutions across Ghana, alongside party officials and other stakeholders, to discuss party organisation, youth participation and the party’s political direction.
